Organizational Savvy: The Missing Piece in Software Architecture Education
SPC E-ssentials Newsletter, Issue 55, October 16, 2001
by David Kane and David Dikel

Abstract: As more and more software professionals assume the role and title of software architect, the question comes up as what skills architects need. Often architects come equipped with experience in software development or modeling. However, often what makes the difference in the success of failure of an architecture are organizational factors. Software architects' toolkits are not complete unless they have an understanding of the kinds of organizational issues they'll face, and approaches for addressing them. The article draws on comparisons to the develoment of building architecture as a discipline.
